Collisional Effects in Isovector Response Function of Nuclear Matter at Finite Temperature
نویسنده
چکیده
The dipole response function of nuclear matter at zero and finite temperatures is investigated by employing the linearized version of the extended TDHF theory with a non-Markovian binary collision term. Calculations are carried out for nuclear dipole vibrations by employing the Steinwedel-Jensen model and compared with experimental results for 120Sn and 208Pb. Isovector Collective Response Function of Nuclear Matter at Finite Temperature
We study isovector collective excitations in nuclear matter by employing the linearized Landau-Vlasov equation with and without a non-Markovian binary collision term at finite temperature. We calculate the giant dipole resonance (GDR) strength function for finite nuclei using Steinwedel-Jensen model and also by Thomas-Fermi approximation, and we compare them for 120Sn and 208Pb with experimenta...
متن کاملNew collective mode due to collisional coupling
Starting from a nonmarkovian conserving relaxation time approximation for collisions we derive coupled dispersion relations for asymmetric nuclear matter. The isovector and isoscalar modes are coupled due to asymmetric nuclear meanfield acting on neutrons and protons differently. A further coupling is observed by collisional correlations. The latter one leads to the appearance of a new soft mod...
متن کاملIsovector response function of hot nuclear matter with Skyrme interactions.
We investigate the role of the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction in the description of giant dipole resonances in hot nuclei. For this purpose we calculate the response function of hot nuclear matter to a small isovector external perturbation using various effective Skyrme interactions. We find that for Skyrme forces with an effective mass close to unity an undamped zero sound mode occurs a...
متن کاملDamping of giant resonances in asymmetric nuclear matter
The giant collective modes in asymmetric nuclear matter are investigated within a dynamic relaxation time approximation. We derive a coupled dispersion relation and show that two sources of coupling appear: (i) a coupling of isoscalar and isovector modes due to different mean-fields acting and (ii) an explicit new coupling in asymmetric matter due to collisional interaction. We show that the la...
متن کاملMedium modification of the charged-current neutrino opacity and its implications
Previous work on neutrino emission from proto-neutron stars which employed full solutions of the Boltzmann equation showed that the average energies of emitted electron neutrinos and antineutrinos are closer to one another than predicted by older, more approximate work. This in turn implied that the neutrino driven wind is proton rich during its entire life, precluding r-process nucleosynthesis...
